Ouroboros
More flash fiction to start your new year!
Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope you enjoyed the holidays, and that your 2026 is starting well. Things have been pretty good for House Bush, especially on the writing front! As you’re probably aware, I’ve had an exciting couple of months for my writing journey, with stories picked up by Havok, Your Paper Quest, and even my own local bookstore. It’s the most writing and publishing action I’ve had in quite some time, and I’m grateful for all the interest in my stories, even if they’re only little bits of flash fiction. It’s hard to overstate how encouraging it is for people and publications to show their interest in a writer’s work.
Which leads to today’s exciting news: I’ve got one more flash fiction for you! Ouroboros is another Havok story, inspired by Star Trek, interestingly enough. I’ve never been a Trekkie, but my father-in-law loves it, and it’s slowly been growing on me as I’ve watched it with him. So much so that I wanted to write this little story!
Like all Havok stories, it’ll only be available to read today, January 6th, on their website. If you get a chance to read it, please let me know what you think! I’m always eager to hear which of my stories y’all enjoy.
And finally, on another Havok-related note, I’m pleased to announce that last month’s story, The Humbug Swarm, was accepted into their latest anthology, Multiversal! This little sci-fi/Charles Dickens mashup was fun to write, and it seems like a lot of folks enjoyed it as well. If you didn’t get a chance to read it when it was released, you can either get a Havok membership to read all of their previous stories in the archives, or pick up a copy of the Multiversal Anthology when it releases sometime here soon. Havok anthologies are pretty nice, they’re a curated collection of the best stories from each genre and theme across one of their seasons. The best of the best flash fiction, all in one book!
Anyway, that’s all the updates I have for now. Thank you for reading and for your continued support, and I look forward to sending you more stories throughout 2026!
