Published in A Flash Fiction Anthology!
Ryan actually managed to get a story published, and he is very excited about it
Howdy all!
I’ve been eager to share this for a while, but my flash fiction piece Storing up Treasures was just published in a collected anthology by Havok Publishing! Havok is a really fun company that posts free flash fiction on their website, and they periodically collect their favorite stories from there and put them in an anthology. You can check out their website for your daily dose of flash fiction if you’re interested in free stories every day. (You can also subscribe to their annual membership for $5 and read all of their previous stories.)
The theme for this collection is Vice and Virtue, and it was fun reading all these stories centered around human shortcomings and strengths. I won’t spoil much about my contribution, but if you like heists, I think you’ll like my story! Because it’s… about a heist.
If you do give it a read, please let me know what you thought of Storing up Treasures and the other stories in this anthology! The whole anthology is available on Amazon for $3.99 on Kindle, or $12.99 in paperback.
What’s Next?
Honestly, Havok was amazing to work with, and their staff is very friendly, so I’m definitely submitting more stories to them in the future. They have monthly themes, and my goal is to write at least one story per theme and submit it for consideration. I’ve already got a few more in the works, so fingers crossed!
One thing I’ve realized is that I’m definitely an epic fantasy fan at heart. I keep writing 2k or 3k word stories, and Havok has a max word count of 1k. Cutting a story in half is difficult, but it’s been good for me to practice writing with more brevity. It’s amazing how much you have to focus on good, clean prose when you have a tight word count.
I’m slowly writing some novels in the background, but those will likely take quite some time (years) before they’re ready. In the meantime, I’m still working on some short stories and flash fiction, and I hope to have more stories to share in the coming months. So, keep your eyes peeled for more updates and free stories!
Thanks for reading!
Chap, that's epic! Congrats!!
